History of My Sisters Keeper- Michigan State University Chapter
My Sisters Keeper was founded on the Campus of Michigan State University November 15, 2012. My Sisters Keeper was a vision that the founder Andrea M. Reed had in her heart for sometime since she began her college journey at Michigan State University. She was adopted at age 4 and was destined to fail according to others' opinions. After attempts by her parents to kill her, being raped, molested, abused, and even experienced thoughts of suicide and somehow made it through it was time to make a change. Deciding to get healed, get free, and be better and do better was the best decision she could have made. After being active in the Michigan State University community and had been involved in various activities such as choir, dance clubs, community service groups, mentoring and empowering, and leadership development activities she was determined to give back. She wanted to start an organization where women would learn to lead, grow, heal, and bring forth positive change in their lives and the lives of others and so it was My Sisters Keeper was formed. Her goal was to see phenomenal women birthed by using there own potential to propel them forward.
She did not embark upon this journey alone, with the help of other phenomenal young women and one encouraging adviser the journey began.
